Vay Liang Go, MD

Distinguished Professor, Division of Digestive Diseases, Department of Medicine, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA

Dr. Go’s interests include nutritional factors in the etiology of disease, the neurohormonal regulation of pancreatic exocrine-endocrine functions and gut-brain axis in health and diseases, including: pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer and metabolic diseases.  His research expanded to nutrition and altered metabolism and cancer prevention, utilizing molecular biology and metabolomic technologies both in vitro and in vivo animal models to study underlying mechanisms of phytonutrients in pancreatic diseases. Dr. Go has been involved in research administration as former Director of Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition, NIDDK, and former Executive Chairman of the UCLA Department of Medicine. Currently, he is the Editor of the journal Pancreas and co-Director of the Center for Pancreatic Diseases at UCLA.

Dr. Go activities have been recognized by various academic societies, including the American Society of Nutrition, which awarded him with the 2014 David Kritchevsky Career Achievement Award in Nutrition and the 2017 CAPER Lifetime Achievement and Mentoring award. He is the recipient of the 2021 AGA Distinguished Mentor Award, a year after winning the Research Mentor Award of the American Pancreatic Association.
